Family Division Holds Bar-Bench Meeting

MAKINDYE: The Family Division of the High Court on Thursday March 28, 2019 held a Bar Bench Committee meeting.

A number of advocates who practice at the Division attended the meeting, which took place at the Court's premises in Makindye.

The Head of the Division, Hon. Justice Godfrey Namundi, chaired the meeting. Judges in attendance included; Hon. Justice David Matovu, Hon. Lady Justice Olive K. Mukwaya and Hon. Lady Justice Ketra Katunguka.

Hon. Justice Namundi commended the lawyers attending the meeting, the first of its kind since he became the Division head. He urged the lawyers to be professional while conducting business in court.

"You should avoid unnecessary adjournments and filing frivolous complaints against judicial officers...stop coming to court unprepared as this only increases case backlog," he said.
The lawyers applauded the Bench for the innovations introduced at the court such asset up of of WhatsApp group for lawyers practicing at the court to improve communication.

The Registrar Supreme Court and PRO, H/W Vincent E. Mugabo, Deputy Registrars: - H/W Mary Kaitesi Kisakye, H/W Stella Atingu as well as the Administrator General,Mr Charles Kasibayo, equally attended the meeting.
